Dear Parents,

Happy Thursday! It’s hard to believe that it is Thursday already! Let’s celebrate the blessing of Friday-students will have a spirit wear dress down day tomorrow!

SJB’s enrollment grew by two new students this week bringing our total to 204 students. Ashlyn Taylor started on Tuesday in third grade, and Jonathan Matthew joined our four year old prekindergarten class on Wednesday. We warmly welcome the Taylor and Matthew families to St. John’s! We are delighted that you are part of the SJB family!

School Building Update

Over Christmas break, much work took place in our preschool rooms. The preschool remodeling project is now complete. We now have beautiful new dropped ceilings, and what’s more, the lights are energy efficient. The teachers have the opportunity to control brightness levels in their rooms dependent on the activities in their rooms. Our littlest learners and teachers were thrilled with the changes! Thank you, Fr. Chris and Jim Nolan, for initiating and ensuring that the project was completed over winter break!

The Annual Knights of Columbus Free Throw Contest for ages 9-14 will take place next Thursday, January 26, at 1:00 PM in our school gym to give everyone the opportunity to participate who is interested. Please see the posting as an entry form must be completed for anyone who wants to take part in the contest.

As a reminder, part two of the application process for the Illinois Tax Credit Scholarship through Empower Illinois begins tomorrow, Friday, January 20. All families seeking financial assistance should apply for the tax credit scholarship and complete a FACTS application. Please see the posting for more information.

Parent Club is gearing up for Winter Carnival on Saturday, January 28, immediately following 5:00 PM Mass in Sebahar Hall. I can’t wait to return to the tradition of kicking off Catholic Schools Week with this kid favorite event. Please see the posting for more information.

Open House for prospective families and students will take place from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Sunday, January 29. An appointment is required to attend. There is more information on our school website. If you know someone interested, please share this link for an appointment: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040E4FACAA2AA3F49-open

We have three home basketball games taking place in our gym this Saturday. Games are at 3:00 PM, 4:00 PM, and 5:00 PM. Come cheer on our Wildcats!
