Good morning,

Happy Friday!

I apologize if this is a duplicate email, but it sounds as if there has been inconsistency in receiving yesterday's principal letter and attachments, so I am sending them again in hopes that everyone receives both.

Have a fantastic day,

Joanne

Dear SJB Families,

It’s hard to believe that March is here! The warmer temperatures and clear skies are certainly welcomed, and signs that spring is coming. The beauty of God’s wonderful creation will be here before we know it. What a blessing that March came in like a lamb…recess was truly enjoyable yesterday with the sunny day. Each day recently has been its own season…we will see what tomorrow brings!

Thank you for your patience these past days with our recent internet and email challenges. We apologize if you have not received timely responses to emails as delivery to our inboxes was delayed since Friday evening until yesterday afternoon. Emails began to trickle in after 1:00 PM. The issue has been resolved and it is believed that all features are fully restored. Due to the number of emails that were received by faculty and staff since last Friday evening, it may be a day or two until all emails receive responses. Thank you for your understanding with the delay. We will do our level best to respond as quickly as possible. Teachers did an incredible job adapting to the limitations to not having full access to server related applications and continued to educate children with excellence.

What a success the Parent Club sponsored Mother and Son bingo night was last Friday! It was a night filled with laughter and friendship, delicious food, and fabulous prizes. We are so thankful for the wonderful turnout and for all who came! Many thanks go to our coordinators of the event, Mariu Bulyk and Lauren Genuardi, for their time, effort, and thought put into creating an enjoyable evening for all who attended! Thank you also to the following parents and students who helped on Friday getting ready for the night or assisting during or after the event: Julia Mawi (grade 8), Sofia Soriano (grade 8), Anna Sofia Bukyk (grade 3), Kathy Barrett, Jessica Blitvich, Marianne Brosamer, Mike Bulyk, Erica Cabrera, Dawn Marsden, Seminarian Sam, Bill Zbierski; and Sam Dewees and Elle Zbierski who received service hours for their assistance.

The next Parent Club event, the SJB Roller Skating Party at Funway in Batavia, is just around the corner. We hope to see you there on Wednesday, March 15 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. Due to the timing of the event, the snack bar will be open. Parents and children alike from our school and parish are invited to join in the roller skating fun. To pre-register and save $1.50 on the cost of each admission, please click here: https://funway.centeredgeonline.com/retail/item/1736 Cost at the door is $10.00 per person.

She will also be a giving a presentation to parents on April 20. Watch for more details about this important parent program.

Theater Program Update

We are excited to announce that the spring play will be Tracy Wells’ Snow White and the 7 Endings. Auditions will be on Tuesday, March 7 during school. If auditioning or signing up for the stage and tech crew, students should bring a signed permission slip and the play participation fee of $85.00 unless it was included on your schedule of fees in July. Rehearsals will begin on March 13. Please see the posting for further details about the play and tryouts.

We are so proud of our basketball teams! All of our teams won their play-off games last weekend, and move to the next level of play-offs this weekend! Our sixth grade boys’ team will play against St. Jude at noon in our gym. Our eighth grade Wildcats will also play on Saturday and play at 12:00 PM at St. Michael in Wheaton against St. Joseph. Our Lady Wildcats will be playing on Saturday at 2:00 PM against Everest Academy at St. Raphael in Naperville. All games are sure to be exciting! Let’s go Wildcats! We wish you our best!

To cheer on our basketball teams and show Wildcat pride, we will be having a spirit wear day tomorrow as it is the first Friday in the month. I also wanted to let you know that the spirit wear website opens again for ordering on Monday, March 6. Click here to check it out: https://sjbspiritwear.cedricspringstore.com/

There are also a limited number of child and adult t-shirts on hand. Please contact Kelley Whitman at kwhitman@cedricspring.com if interested in purchasing a t-shirt.

Don’t forget that the Knights of Columbus Fish Fry is tomorrow in Sebahar Hall from 5:00 -7:00 PM. If you aren’t able to attend or order for home, there will be another one next week, and on the following Fridays in Lent: March 10, 17, 24, and 31. If you haven’t been to one, it won’t disappoint. The fellowship is wonderful, and the food is always tasty! Please see the posting for more details.

Please pray for our second grade students this weekend as they and their parents will be participating in a First Eucharist Workshop on Saturday, March 4, from 9 AM - Noon. With the help of their parents, they will participate in various activities in preparation for receiving the Eucharist for the first time. May God bless their time together. On a practical note, there are several events taking place on Saturday morning and parking may be difficult. Please be reminded that there is parking in front of the school and in our parking lot on Liberty Street.

May your Lenten journey bring you closer to our Lord.

Blessings to you,

Joanne
